Olaoluwa has two first degrees in Mathematics and Physics and two Master’s degrees also in Mathematics and Physics and now hopes for a second Ph.D, in Physics.

Here comes a new era a 24-year-old student of the University of Lagos, Hallowed Olaoluwa earns his Ph.D to become Africa's youngest scholar...

He is young, he is brainy...and now he is on top as the Youngest Ever African Scholar!
A 24-year-old student of the University of Lagos, Hallowed Olaoluwa, has set a new academic record and put his name on the African map after awarded his doctorate degree in Mathematics on Wednesday.

Olaoluwa, the son of a clergyman in the Central African Republic, had the best Ph.D thesis for the 2012/2013 session and graduated with an awe-inspiring cumulative grade Point average of 5.0.
This means Olaoluwa scored A-grades in all the courses he entered throughout the duration of the course.
"This award particularly is a victory for the field of Mathematics especially as many people do not believe it is a field that could transform the world," a Daily Post report quoted Olaoluwa as saying.
Olaoluwa, who said it took him three years to complete his Ph.D programme, has a long history of astounding successes.
He had started his first degree at the tender age of 15 which is below the minimum age set by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).
In 2007, he had bagged  a First Class degree Bachelors degree in Mathematics, aged 18, and a year later, in 2008, he earned his Masters degrees in Physics.
But that is not all, Olaoluwa has two first degrees, Mathematics and Physics and two Master’s degrees also in Mathematics and Physics.
Now, he hopes for a second Ph.D, in Physics, to make it a hat trick of double degrees.
“I hope in the nearest future, I can achieve the goal of securing another PhD in Physics since my other degrees had always been in the two fields,” he said.
The mathematician has now officially shoved aside Olabisi Adeyemi, the former youngest African scholar, who coincidentally also graduated  from UNILAG at the age of 26 with a 4.98 CGPA in the 2011/2012 academic session.
Indeed, just as his name implies, this scholar (or at least his brain) should he hallowed.
Present at the award ceremony were former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Julius Okojie, representing the Visitor to the university, President Goodluck Jonathan, the Pro Chancellor of the university, Prof Jerry Gana, the former Vice Chancellor of UNILAG and Vice Chancellor of Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Prof Tolu Odugbemi, and a host of other dignitaries.
